After a long hiatus....Krafts by Kara is back. I set up a booth at the Mt. Laurel Spring show this past Saturday, thank you to all who turned out for the event! Business was slow, but good nonetheless. I always enjoy meeting new people and aquiring new customers. The pictures show my table I had set up which showcased a lot of picture frames and of course the ever popular blocks! This time I made a special set of A-Z that is actually a birthday present for my nephew's 2nd birthday next month. This set is available in a custom order for $75. The large frames are $30 and the small frames are $15.

I am loving these new blocks that I made. They were ordered by a friend of mine and they are going in a nursery that is monkey themed. I love that I found a banana paper to compliment the monkey motif! I had to share so you all can see how diverse these blocks can be.....custom to any decor!

New Frames!

This is a new frame option that I am making. It is a solid wood frame that measures 8 inches by 8 inches and holds a 3.5 x 3.5 picture. The frames are custom made to the paper/color scheme of your choice. They can also be personalized. Stay tuned for Christmas picture frames! These frames are priced at $20 and $25 to be personalized.

Mt. Laurel Fall Festival was a success!

Today was the Mt. Laurel Fall Festival....my first art show!!! First and foremost, I want to say a huge thank you to my mom, Lesa and my bestest friend, Anne Rae for helping me out today! I appreciate it more than they know. I also want to say a special thank you to all my family and friends that came to check out the show as well. It was very special to me to see you all there. I had a very successfull first show and I made some great contacts! I must say, the honorable mention of the day goes to... Mary & Holly...my new friends who I am naming my "Number One Fans". They were a hoot and I believe are my new blogging buddies! Sorry Holly, you didn't win the raffle. McCall Harwell won the raffle today! Congratulations!!!! I had a blast today and I hope this is the start of more "krafts" to come! Again, thank you to everyone who came to check out my booth today, please email me for orders...Christmas is coming very quickly! :)

Initial blocks...for adults! :)

I made these for a friend of mine. She works at Mt. Brook High School and wanted some initial blocks for her desk at work. I stayed true to the "Spartan" green and gold so she would display the utmost school spirit! These are a great idea for someone's desk at work. Definitely a conversation starter!

Here are more frames that I have made. I like to think of the middle two as "a wink and a nudge" to Auburn and Alabama fans. How cute would these frames be for children or adults with a picture of your family tailgaiting?! Just like the other frames shown below in a past blog, they can be personalized.

This is the newest addition to my line of Krafts....letter blocks! Just like the bigger blocks and picture frames, they can be covered with hundreds of possibilites of color schemes. These will make the perfect addition to any nursery or children's room. You can even mix them up to be able to teach your child how to spell their own name!

These blocks are much smaller than the others. They measure approx. 1.75 inches x 1.75 inches. They sell for $5 a piece with a cap at $40 (i.e. if your child's name is longer than eight letters, the most I will charge you is $40). I've had the most fun making these, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Picture Frames

Here are a couple examples of the picture frames I am making. As you can see they can be personalized if you prefer. Picture frames always make a great gift, for children and adults! Just like the blocks, the possibilities are endless! Think of holiday themed frames, "first day of school", or even sports themed. The frames measure 8 1/2 by 11 inches and hold a 4x6 picture. They are made of solid wood and include a glass protectant for the picture. I am charging $25 for the frame, $30 if you wish to personalize it.

The blocks come in sets of three and sell for $35 a set. They measure 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches. They can be personalized to your liking with a monogram of letter(s) on each block, or not...depends on your preference. They are non-toxic made with Mod Podge, however, I do recommend they are for "decorative purposes only". Obviously, children may play with them, with adult supervision. They are the perfect accent to any nursery or children's room, they look great on a shelf or used as bookends on a bookshelf. The possibilities are endless with the thousands of scrapbooking paper that are available!

Well, I'm finally taking the advice of family and friends over the years! I am setting up a tent at the Mt. Laurel Fall Festival on October 18th and selling one of my many craft projects! I started making baby/children's blocks and picture frames a few weeks ago and the response has been so great I have decided to attempt to sell them.

Most of my life I have been involved in some sort of art or crafty project. It has always been a dream of mine to make a living doing what I love to do....art. I've always heard taking the first step is the hardest....well, I am "taking the first step"!
